| I grew up in the city of Detroit, Michigan and was always drawn to the urban environment. Upon moving to Chicago in the winter of 1990 I immediately fell in love with the city. I dont know all the psychological motives that intrigue me to paint the city— I find it complex and there is a strong sense of history and human drama. My main goal as a painter is to record this as I view it and to make one conscious of the spaces beyond the limits of the painting. -Roger Bole |
